Many people struggle with a victim mentality. Overcoming self pity after my childhood of sexual abuse was one of my biggest hurdles. Self criticism can lead you to believing you are a victim. But, it’s not true!

Discover the path to victory with this empowering blog post about personal growth. Explore self improvement, motivation, and mindfulness to overcome challenges and transform your life positively.

You Are Not A Victim

As a child of God, you are victorious. You are not a victim. No matter what the enemy has thrown at you, you are more than a conqueror. The path from victim to victor lies in your belief system. Your thoughts, your perception of yourself, and your future determine your destiny. It’s time for you to walk out of shame, cast out trauma, and live victoriously as Father God intended for you to live.

When you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior you stepped into everything you will ever need in this world. Your identity and your authority lie in Him. Shame and trauma are not your lot in life. Let’s look at what the bible has to say about not being a victim, living victoriously, and stepping into your destiny as an overcomer.

Get Set Free From A Victim Mentality

I am going to share with you the biblical truths that set me free from a victim mentality. I now live as an overcomer with Holy Spirit by my side. My prayer is for you to live this way too. You can read my story here.

Here are 11 reasons why you are not a victim. Let’s look at the scriptures from the Bible and learn what God has to say about His inheritance for you. I want to encourage you to read each of these scriptures as if they were Jesus’s last will and testament addressed directly to you. Imagine yourself sitting with the lawyer right after Jesus die. Think about the lawyer reading these scriptures to you in your inheritance meeting and receive the word of God.

Reason 1: Jesus Died For You

Jesus died on the cross as the last living sacrifice needed for your healing. This gift provides you with everything you would ever require to fulfill your God-given destiny. You were created to do the good works that Father God prepared in advance for you to do.

8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Ephesians 2:8-10, NIV

Reason 2: Jesus Lives In You

In 1 John chapter 4 we learn that Jesus (the Spirit of God) lives in us and His Spirit is greater than the evil that assaulted you. Greater is He that is in you than He that is in the world

Little children (believers, dear ones), you are of God and you belong to Him and have [already] overcome them [the agents of the antichrist]; because He who is in you is greater than he (Satan) who is in the world [of sinful mankind].

1 John 4:4, AMP

Reason 3: You Can Renew Your Mind

As a believer in Christ, you have the ability to renew your mind. Renewing your mind means that you replace negative thoughts and feelings with the truth according to the word of God. Romans 12 says that as we renew our minds we will be able to discern God’s will. You will know which direction to go and you will feel peace.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Romans 12:2, NIV

Reason 4: The Spirit Of God Lives In You

The Spirit of God lives inside of you to lead you out of pain. As a believer your spirit partners with the Spirit of God to bring forth His perfect will in your life. This will includes victory over abuse, emotional pain, sickness, and disease. Set your mind on Holy Spirit and you will learn how to hear, see, feel, and know Him.

5 Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. 7 The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.

Romans 8:5-7, NIV

Reason 5: The Spirit Of God Operates In You

Not only does the Spirit of God live in you but He also operates in you. This means He gives life to you in every place that you need it especially the places where you have endured emotional pain. Let Holy Spirit show you where He wants to heal your heart so you can be set from being the victim.

And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit, who lives in you. Romans 8:11, AMP

Romans 8:11, AMP

Reason 6: Your Are An Heir

You are an heir of God and a co-heir with Christ. Because you shared in Jesus’ sufferings you will also share in His glory. In this life, suffering will come but because your inheritance is in Christ healing also comes. And, that healing trumps your suffering because you get to share in His glory. The glory of God is His magnificence, beauty, perfection, splendor and majesty.

Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

Romans 8:17, NIV

Reason 7: The Spirit Of God Prays For You

The Spirit of God prays for you when you do not know what to pray. When your heart hurts, Holy Spirit steps in and prays the prayers you need said for your future. The Spirit of God intercedes for you for your good. He searches your heart and prays for what you need according to the will of God.

26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

Romans 8:26-27, NIV

Reason 8: God Works Everything Together For Your Good

God will work out all things for your good. As a gift to you and to cheer you on to fulfill your God-give destiny He mysteriously moves mountains to heal your heart. Your job is to believe and then He fulfills His part of the story by healing your heart and working out every detail of your life for your good.

28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Romans 8:28, NIV

Reason 9: God Is On Your Side

If God is for you, then who can be against you? Father God gave Jesus as a living sacrifice so that you no longer have to deal with the consequences of your sin. Jesus took your sins on the cross. This incredible sacrifice shows you that God is for you. And, if He is for you than no one that comes up against you is a match for Him. Because He overcomes you overcome.

31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

Romans 8:31-32, NIV

Reason 10: God Justifies You

God justifies you because He chose you. You are so valuable and loved by Father God that not only did He choose you but He will also protect you and heal you. Any charge brought against you from the enemy, like staying a victim your entire life, will be thrown out because your God will bring justice into your life.

Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies.

Romans 8:33, NIV

Reason 11: You Are More Than A Conqueror

Because you are a believer in Christ, you are more than a conquerer. This is your identity in Christ. You are not a victim, an accident, or a problem. Because Jesus overcame you will also be an overcomer. Your life is an answer for your generations! Victory is yours. All you have to do is believe in Jesus and live your life with Him as your Lord and Savior.

37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:37-39 NIV

Romans 8:37-39, NIV
