Your identity in Christ is your new identity. When you surrendered your life to Christ and decided to serve Him you became a child of God. Everything about you changed as your spirit came alive in Him. Ephesians 2:10 describes it like this:

10 We have become his poetry, a re-created people that will fulfill the destiny he has given each of us, for we are joined to Jesus, the Anointed One. Even before we were born, God planned in advance our destiny and the good works we would do to fulfill it!

Ephesians 2:10, The Passion Translation

You are a new creation in Christ

You were re-created to fulfill your God-given destiny. In your surrender you are now able to receive His love and know just how much you are truly loved by Father God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit. I encourage you to pursue your new identity in Christ. David shares his revelation on his God-given identity in Psalm 139:

Lord, you know everything there is to know about me.
You perceive every movement of my heart and soul, and you understand my every thought before it even enters my mind.
3–4 You are so intimately aware of me, Lord. You read my heart like an open book and you know all the words I’m about to speak before I even start a sentence! You know every step I will take before my journey even begins.
You’ve gone into my future to prepare the way, and in kindness you follow behind me to spare me from the harm of my past. With your hand of love upon my life, you impart a blessing to me.
This is just too wonderful, deep, and incomprehensible!

Psalm 139: 1-6, The Passion Translation

Scriptures

Read aloud the following scriptures. This is a glimpse into your identity in Christ. As you read, I encourage you to soak in His love for you.

1 Peter 2:9

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 1 Peter 2:9, NKJV

Read aloud, “I am part of a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation and His own special people. I proclaim my praises of Jesus who called me out of darkness into His marvelous light”

Isaiah 43:1-2

But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. Isaiah 43:1-2, ESV

Read aloud, “I will not fear because God has redeemed me. God has called me by name and I am His. When I pass through the waters, God is with me; and through the rivers, I will not be overwhelmed. When I walk through fire I will not be burned; the flame will not consume me.”

Colossians 2:14

14 He [Jesus] canceled out every legal violation we had on our record and the old arrest warrant that stood to indict us. He erased it all—our sins, our stained soul—he deleted it all and they cannot be retrieved! Everything we once were in Adam has been placed onto his cross and nailed permanently there as a public display of cancellation. Colossians 2:14, The Passion Translation (TPT)

Read aloud, “Every legal violation I had on my record has been erased by Jesus Christ through my repentance. Since I have repented, all of my past sins have been deleted and they cannot be retrieved. Everything I once was, before accepting Christ as my Lord and Savior, has been placed onto the cross of Jesus, nailed permanently there as a public display of cancellation.”

Ephesians 1:13-14

13 And because of him, when you who are not Jews heard the revelation of truth, you believed in the wonderful news of salvation. Now we have been stamped with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit.14 He is given to us like an engagement ring is given to a bride, as the first installment of what’s coming! He is our hope-promise of a future inheritance which seals us until we have all of redemption’s promises and experience complete freedom—all for the supreme glory and honor of God! Ephesians 1: 13-14, The Passion Translation

Read aloud, “I have been stamped with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit, I invite You in to my heart to teach me of my hope-promises and my future. I ask You to teach me about complete freedom and how to walk it out.”

Jeremiah 29:11-13

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:11-13, NIV

Read aloud, “I agree with God’s plans for me. He will prosper me and He will not harm me. He gives me a hope and a future. I will call on Him and pray to Him and He will listen to me. I will seek Him and find Him when I seek Him with all my heart.”

Colossians 3:12-14

12-14 So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it. Colossians 3: 12-14, The Message

Read aloud, “I declare that I am chosen by God for this new life of love. I decree that I am now dressed in compassion for others wearing kindness, humility, quiet strength, and discipline. I choose to forgive quickly and completely as Father God forgave me. I also wear love as it is my basic, allpurpose garment. Help me, Father God, to never be without Your love.”
